The Khanyi Homework Project- Grow yourself by growing others

I have been a volunteer at the homework project for almost 3 years and the amount of joy I have received during this time is amazing. Each week is a surprise and the children delight you with their individual personalities and characters.

The main things I have learned:

1. South Africa is improving- the youth of today have access to education and there are some incredible bright young minds out there
2. YOUR interest, care and committment will not go unoticed or be taken for granted. Each minute you are there interacting with the Khanyi kids they are learning, experiencing love and seeing you as a role model
3. It will make you appreciate your life, your family, your job and your comforts
4. You can meet some awesome volunteers!

Children and teenagers are a blessing. They have joy, energy and fun! Take an opportunity to expand your comfort zone and you will be stretch those "muscles" in you that you never knew exististed. Tight bonds and relationships between you and the kids will be formed and nourished each week- hang in there during the tougher times (especially the first few times)
